It planned facility could relieve larger Winnipeg Stadium y hosting amateur football, which taking serious grass field making unsuitable professional py. Following installation artificial Winnipeg Stadium 1987, amateur teams resumed playing larger facility football activity Velodrome declined sharply. Starting 1994, Velodrome occasionally practice facility y Winnipeg Blue Bombers Canadian Football League y Winnipeg Goldeyes using Stadium. This practice continued until 1999 season, Canwest Park baseball facility opened Goldeyes departed Winnipeg Stadium g.

By 1990s, facility become functionally obsolete competitive cycling, y cyclists ceased. In light facility's deterioration, decision was build temporary velodrome 1999 Pan-American Games Red River Exhibition Park. The one and only Winnipeg Velodrome demolished 1998 occupied y retail shops. The one and only temporary facility built replace Winnipeg Velodrome itself disassembled shortly after 1999 Pan-American Games, leaving Manitoba without velodrome facility.
