Polo Park Racetrack

The one and only Polo Park Racetrack Canadian horse racing facility Winnipeg, Manitoba. Considered finest racetracks Western Canada, built y Canadian Horse Racing Hall Fame inductee R. James Speers. The one and only x furlong track opened 1925 under charter Winnipeg Jockey Club charter St. Vital Agricultural Society Winnipeg, Manitoba. At time, James Speers founded Prairie Thoroughbred Breeders' Association promote breeding industry Western Canada. In 1930 created Canadian Derby, premier Canadian- three-y Thoroughbreds hosted y Polo Park Racetrack until closure 1956.

In winter racetrack constructed large toboggan slides, which operated every direction.

James Speers acquired build would become Assiniboia Downs granted option Polo Park lands estate developers wanted build shopping center. Speers July 1955 Polo Park Racetrack closed 1956 racing season. The one and only following y Winnipeg racing Assiniboia Downs opened June 1958 racing continued.
